Since High School:

After high school I enrolled in Michael Hospital School of Nursing.
While I was there I met my future husband. Al was a student at IIT
which was two blocks away. I graduated in June, 1970 and we
married in November, 1970. Two years later I had Krista Amy and
became a stay at home Mom. Over the next four years we moved to
Philadelphia and back to northwest suburbs, Al went to John
Marshall Law School and we added another daughter to our family,
Beth Noelle. Three years after that, we moved to Lake Zurich and Al
took a job at Abbott Laboratories. I began to realize that my brain
was turning into marshmallows so I took an RN refresher course
and went back to work. In 1980 I started my long term career at
Northwest Community Hospital. I started part-time working the 3-11
shift in the operating room. Two years later I went to the day shift
and spent 6 years there. When our new day surgery unit opened in
the late 80's, I jumped at the chance to have a saner life (no
weekends, no holidays and NO Call!).   I am now a clinical
coordinator.

My daughters went through the Lake Zurich school system. We
attended numerous band concerts (Beth plays the saxophone) and
orchestra concerts (Krista plays the viola.) One played soccer and
volleyball and the other track and tennis. Both did well and went on
to college. Krista went to Bradley for her undergrad and Indiana for
her MBA. She now works for Orbitz.com. She is to be married this
April 21. Beth received her BA from Indiana, married her college
sweetheart and now is the proud parent of Samantha Michelle.
My two year old grand daughter Samantha has me firmly wrapped
around her little finger.

While my daughters were finishing their college degrees, I went
back to school. In 2002 I graduated with honors from Roosevelt
University with a general studies degree and a concentration in
economics and marketing. In today’s health care I found you need a
good understanding of some basic business principles.

We now live in Hawthorn Woods.    Al is still at Abbott as Director,
Global Energy Management. He has to travel quite a bit and I am
now occasionally going with him to London, Ireland, Italy, Spain and
Brussels.   I'm hoping to cut back to part-time or retire in the next
couple of years so that I can spend time with my grandchild and
hopefully travel more with Al.
